With Earth Day and Neil Young's last canadian date of his Fork in the Road tour coinciding in the same week, I felt it a good time to pay tribute.

"Mother Earth (Natural Anthem)" - Neil Young

Oh, Mother Earth, With your fields of green Once more laid down by the hungry hand How long can you give and not receive And feed this world ruled by greed And feed this world ruled by greed.

Oh, ball of fire In the summer sky Your healing light, your parade of days Are they betrayed by the men of power Who hold this world in their changing hands They hold the world in their changing hands.

Oh, freedom land Can you let this go Down to the streets where the numbers grow Respect Mother Earth and her giving ways Or trade away our children's days Or trade away our children's days.

Respect Mother Earth and her giving ways Or trade away our children's days.

Neil Young, an extraordinary Canadian is also a long time, outspoken advocate for environmental issues and small farmers, having co-founded the benefit concert Farm Aid in 1985.

I came across your site looking for articles on Neil Young. I had the pleasure of seeing him perform a powerful 3 hour set in Edmonton, Alberta last night. Mother Earth is one of my favorite songs and I was completely in awe when he played it half way through his set. Neil Young is an important part of our Canadian music heritage and like your article states is a great spokes person on Environmental issues. Your site is very interesting. Keep up the great work!
