SPARK TO THE GREAT WAR THAT TOOK SO MANY CANADIAN LIVES
Today, in my blog, posted a small reflection on June 28. The date always resonates with me, especially since I participated in a Battlefield Study Tour for secondary school teachers in 2006. I blogged about that trip and included a few photos, including a special mention for the daily playing of the Last Post in Ypres. Thought I would share that entry here, on this site for Canadian History, as ...
THANKS!
June 6 2010--another year has passed since the WWII undertaking of D-Day. Each year, I think about the cost of the military mission and the long-term gift of freedom it has earned for us. Each year, I am thankful for this freedom, treasure it and hope it will always be part of our Canada. This year, I blogged about D-Day. Here is a link to what I wrote: http://tinyurl.com/2w7czch

A POEM FOR VIMY
In National Poetry Month 2010, on April 9, I would like to share this poem that I wrote about the breath-taking monument built to memorialize the 1917 battle of Vimy Ridge.
APRIL HAS ARRIVED
Once again, National Poetry Month is being celebrated in Canada and the United States plus other countries. It is listed in the Calendar of Events for April at the Canadian Heritage government site. Take a few moments this month to read, write, listen to a poem at home, in a coffee shop, at an April poetry event. Canada has been the home of many poets. Each year, John McCrae's WWI poem "In ...
